River Parishes

The River Parishes Community

Louisiana’s River Parishes are steeped in history. Imagine Southern plantations, true “swamp country”, and authentic Cajun and Creole cuisine right from the source. Y’all are welcome, anytime.

This gorgeous stretch of approximately 30-miles along the Mississippi River is located in between New Orleans and Baton Rouge.  Known for historic plantation houses, agriculture, cuisine and ecosystems, Louisiana’s River Parishes reflect a long history steeped with influences from Germans, Acadians (Cajuns), French, Spanish, Native Americans, and enslaved Africans, all of whom have created a unique, blended culture that is alive and thriving today.
